Coffee chat with Christy & Susanne | Questions that will change your life.

Women thrive in pleasure. That doesn’t mean just sex. We are born to be creative and vibrant. As women, we have that feminine energy that thrives off of that. So find the things that bring you pleasure. It’s a layered thing. If it isn’t time for that layer to be discovered, the whole thing doesn’t have to get dismissed. Start with your morning cup of coffee steaming in your hand to bring you pleasure. Awesome. Put that down. Start slow. All of this is such a journey. It’s a journey and grace of taking the steps. If you’re not used to bringing yourself joy or pleasure in any way, that’s just a starting point.

Enjoy the journey, for it is the goal

As a high performer, sometimes you only find success in working hard and feeling miserable, hurting, and consistently being in agony, always pushing beyond your limits. That’s the worst thing that we can actually do to ourselves. We can accomplish so much more where we find not only joy but also set ourselves up to feeling joy and pleasure and understanding that the journey is the goal. It’s not the performance that’s the goal. It’s who we become as we set ourselves up on stage and be the very best. Maybe that day isn’t the very best, but the next day will be the best. It’s not about reaching; it’s about walking and keeps going and continuously moving forward.

Let’s apply exactly this to the studios. Regardless of what studio you’re in, you can repeat a number of times a sequence, a song, anything by just doing it and filling that void. If you’ve rehearsed five hours a day, you’ve put in the work, and therefore you’re worthy. Success is just right around the corner where we ourselves how we feel while doing it. How do we feel after it? How did we feel before? And how do we feel when we are about to step into this kind of environment? That’s where the sweet spot lies. That’s what we have forgotten as performing artists that feeling isn’t important anymore; doing is so much more important. But isn’t it feelings and emotions that we are portraying to our audiences? Isn’t that why they’re coming. It’s not because of the doing; it’s because they want to be part of our world, our emotional world, our soul, our heart. That’s why they’re coming, and not because we can kick out our legs really high and can stand on pointe for like 10 minutes. Who cares about that? You may care, but then why do you care? Perhaps that is the better question to ask at this point.

There are so many layers to discovering ourselves and our self-worth and how to find love within ourselves when we’ve been so used to looking at the outside world to help us do that. When you start working on yourself, first give yourself grace. Give yourself the grace of whatever comes up and know that you’re not alone in it. Know that everybody feels like this for different reasons, and we have different things that have happened in our lives that have led us to where we are now. Your beliefs and stories don’t have to stay that way right now. If you can find the power to be empowered, to step into discovering yourself in a deeper way, it really will change everything. It will change your dancing too.

So much ❤ Susanne

There is a better way to pursue ballet at the professional level. Instead of dancers pushing beyond their body’s limits, there is a healthier way to train your body, your mind and your spirit to soar. To become the best at your craft, you must be healthy. The mentality of surviving to make a performance perfect is an old paradigm that needs to change. As athletes, dancers must thrive in order to shine and connect with their audience. This new approach, leads to fulfillment, strength and longevity. It allows you to give more of your heart and soul on stage, creating an unforgettable experience that moves your audience. And that’s the whole pointe.
