Time to disrupt

SUSANNE TALK

January 11, 2022

Susanne shares that over the past weeks a reoccurring theme that keeps coming in. Are we as performing artists better if we leave our ‘day’ outside the door? or can we reframe this statement and lean into the creativity of the art by using these emotions to fuel us in the art?

A Time to Disrupt

When I look at where we are. now in the world altogether, like technology, culture, people, let’s look. Banks don’t like Bitcoin, taxis don’t like Uber. Hotels don’t like Airbnb, bookstores don’t like Amazon, cinemas don’t like Netflix, nine to fivers don’t like people that work remotely. Innovation is not liked. However, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to happen. And when I look at performing arts, we are so overdue for innovation. It is so time to tap into 2022 and to see what’s out there, like with Facebook renaming themselves and moving into the metaverse. What could that mean actually for the performing arts? I understand and I’ve been there. As a performing artist, you just want to create. You just want to be. You just want to be on stage and shine your brightest, but understand that there is more to performing, particularly nowadays, than just showing up and doing the work.

There are so many more things that you could learn, how you could actually understand that your assets, that’s your content, and that content is monetizable. It’s not hard. It’s not going to cost you more money. It’s not going to cost you that much more time. It is not going to change much in what you’re doing day in and out. But with Web 3, you are able to monetize it much easier in a completely different perspective. Performing artists are the original content creators. When we’re taking it back to like the 1700s to 1900s, content creators in which this is a booming economy right now. If you listen anywhere outside of your bubble you’re in, the creator economy is booming like no other business. Three out of five investors are investing solely into people that are building something for the creator economy.

“Three out of five investors are investing solely into people that are building something for the creator economy.”

Now, where are performing artists? What are we building for them? What are we doing for them? And that’s my question. I want you to think outside the box. What’s possible. NFTs, yeah, there’s so much hype around it and there’s so much negative talk about it. But honestly, if Gary Vaynerchuk can make $91 million in 60 days with his collection, I’m pretty sure any kind of performing arts organization is capable of, even if it’s 1% of that 91 million, if you can just tap into a very, very small market, that market is so huge and it hasn’t even boomed yet. It hasn’t even reached its capacity yet. It is still in its infancy. So when we’re looking at the possibilities that are out there, I really would like you to start thinking bigger.

Remember last week how I said there is nothing that you are not worthy of. That’s exactly it. I need you to think bigger because when we think bigger, possibilities arise. We are now in a time where traditional thinking has gotten us to a certain point, but it is also inhibiting us and it’s an enemy of creative thinking. If we keep thinking of who we need to be and what has worked, we’re never going to evolve. We’re never going to grow. And as an art form, no matter where you are at in the performing arts, I truly believe it is so time to rise up and look at possibilities. It is so time to stop chasing money and start creating it. We have all the technical abilities right now in order to make arts profitable. And that’s what I’m working on. That’s what Rise Media is all about.

Do you know how I talked about how we are launching a crowdfunding campaign. Well, that didn’t work out, and you know what? I’m actually at the point where I think thank goodness because I have a whole new vision on how this companies actually going to operate and payback and make it a win-win-win situation or concept for everybody involved. So if you want to learn more about Rise, please go to the Rise Media Instagram page or to the website, link us in here. And I also would love to invite you. If you’re a performing artist, I want to chat with you. I want to bring you onto this podcast, and I want to hear about what you’re struggling with, what your successes are, and what your beliefs are, and how much or maybe not you see yourself struggling or do you see possibilities? I want to know all about it. I want to talk about it, and I want to feature you on here.

So with that said, it is definitely time to disrupt. We have some work to do. Maybe it is for us, but it is for future generations. I think we have that responsibility right now. It is time to stop waiting for somebody else to do it, and it’s starting for us to really step into our own worthiness and understand that performing artists are very, very powerful people because we create. We can create anything. And I hope you heard that. We can literally create anything. So we might as well create something that brings wealth to everybody. As an artist, you don’t have to starve. You don’t have to suffer. You don’t have to starve yourself. You don’t have to do anything like that. You can flourish. You can be the most giving person. You can create wealth, not only for yourself but for generations to come. So time to step up, follow Rise Media on Instagram, send me a DM, share this podcast. I want to know what would help you. I want you to subscribe to this podcast, share it with somebody else, let’s make this as big as we can so we can change what’s coming next. I’m sending you so much love.

There is a better way to pursue ballet at the professional level. Instead of dancers pushing beyond their body’s limits, there is a healthier way to train your body, your mind and your spirit to soar. To become the best at your craft, you must be healthy. The mentality of surviving to make a performance perfect is an old paradigm that needs to change. As athletes, dancers must thrive in order to shine and connect with their audience. This new approach, leads to fulfillment, strength and longevity. It allows you to give more of your heart and soul on stage, creating an unforgettable experience that moves your audience. And that’s the whole pointe.
